The popularity of tattoos has transcended through generations. Even today, tattoos are considered to be fashionable. People from all walks of life continue to put creative ink design on their skin.

Having a foot tattoo is considered chic right now. But people should know that it is quite different than other types of tattoo.

The nerve endings in the feet are closer and there's not much flesh in that spot. Because of this, a foot tattoo is more painful than others. So if you're planning on having one, anticipate and be ready for the pain.

The quality of the tattoo will also deteriorate a lot faster if it's placed on the feet. The ink spreads and fades more rapidly resulting to an obscured image. This is because the feet are exposed more to the rays of the sun especially for people who always wear sandals. These rays can have negative effects on the tattoo; they can fade the ink more rapidly. To prevent this, do not forget to put an effective sun block whenever your tattoo is exposed to the sun.

Because we use our feet for walking and running, they are subjected to enormous amounts of friction. The constant wearing of socks and shoes that includes lots of rubbing also adds to this dilemma considerably. Naturally, if a tattoo is subjected to more friction, the chances of it fading faster are greater.

Also, all the friction, rubbing and heavy activity of our feet can delay the healing of the tattoo. This is one of the reasons why a foot tattoo heals slower than tattoos on other parts of the body. The distance from our feet to our heart which pumps the blood that carries oxygen to the different parts of our body is an important factor as well. As we all know, the feet is the farthest body part from our heart; this means the oxygenated blood will take a longer time to reach these peripherals. These results in longer healing time.

The fact that our feet are closer to the ground has a lot to do with the healing process as well. This makes our feet more exposed to harmful germs that may infect the tattoo wound. If this happens, healing will definitely be prolonged and a consultation from a physician might be required.

By reading this, you more or less have an idea on what to expect if you plan to have a foot tattoo. It's vital to prepare properly and take all the necessary precautions.
