Tips in SEO Writing

Article writing in SEO is quite different from writing a story, news clipping, a poem, or diary entry. Based on my experience, SEO writing may sometimes involve writing about something that may seem unfamiliar such as writing about jet engines, astronomy, or the human anatomy. As an SEO writer, being a flexible and "multi-professional" play a very huge part in writing a successful article.

Though being a multi-professional may seem far-fetched, there is sense in that phrase that makes this kind of true. Having some knowledge about certain things can really help in being an SEO writer. This is because SEO writing involves writing articles about different kinds of niches. For example: you’re doing articles on human anatomy, then on diesel engines, and after that, some write-ups on cakes and other pastries. Being a multi-professional writer in a sense that you're having tiny knowledge about different variety of things can really help in constructing an article about a certain topic. Having the innate skill for writing stuff, may it be technical or art, can largely contribute in constructing an article for SEO. Among of these skills are sentence construction, grammar, and imagination. But these are still not enough to write articles for SEO. There are still the keyword issues, the right topic, and the rules you’ll have to follow in writing some articles. So let me give you some tips in creating a successful article for SEO.

The First Step

The first step is mainly involved in thinking of the topic or theme of your article. This is the most important part of creating an article. If you’re not used to creating write-ups about topics you haven't encountered before, researching is the best way to do it. As I’ve said earlier, if it isn’t your forte, then you’ll have a lot of difficulties in writing stuff you haven't encountered before. But as I’ve stated earlier, the very solution to this is to do research, research, and more research. Reading other articles are preferable if you can find the same topic as yours. If you can’t find some articles related to your topic, then search on forums. Forums is a great way to look at people’s opinion on certain things that you’ll want to include on your article.

When I first started in writing articles for SEO, I used to make an overview outlining every element I want to see in my article. This makes it a lot easier to think about the concept of my article. From there, I could research on every element separately and in a more organized manner.

Here’s my tip in writing: just write straight on. Firstly, after you’ve given some thought on your article's topic and gathered the materials you want to use, just start writing the things that come into your mind. Never mind about the grammar just yet.

Struck of genius doesn’t always happen, so all ideas that have come into your mind should immediately be put into writing. Write it on a piece of paper if you don’t know where you want to put it yet or on another document if you haven’t thought of where to put your idea on your article.

Here’s my advice: when writing an article, it’s advisable that you should close all IM applications such as Yahoo Messenger or MSN messenger. These things could distract you through your process of writing an article.

The Third Step

Here comes the most challenging part in writing an SEO article - the placement of keywords. Keyword placing is among the most challenging part of creating an article. First thing that you’ll have to think about in keyword placing is where you want to put it. The most preferable places to put a keyword in is on the second paragraph, the middle part of your article, and at the last paragraph of your article.

Back in the old days when SEO has just begun, placing a lot of keywords on your article is the most preferable strategy in creating an article. But nowadays, search engines have gotten a lot smarter than before, and stuffing a lot of keywords in an article could get you banned from search engines. So watch how many keywords you’re including in your write up. Two to three keywords are enough.

Also, make sure that your article still makes sense after putting your keywords. Remember that your article isn’t only built for search engines, but also for people who want to read your article.

The Final Step

After putting all your ideas in writing and placing your keywords on strategic areas around your article, its time to put your article for proofreading. Remove stuff that you think is not suitable for your SEO article. To ensure that everything is completely correct, you can read them more than just twice or maybe even read the article backwards to ensure that all words are correctly spelt in your SEO article.

Make sure that your article is readable not only to search engines, but to readers alike. Proofreading helps in making sure that your article is readable and not annoy readers with overflowing keywords and crappy grammar and spelling.
