All the rage now in men's board shorts is the stretch technology. Boardshorts of the past are made of polyester and were pretty thick.  Coming out of the water and laying on the beach you might have a damp wet feeling for a long time. Not something I would want to deal with.  With the innovative stretch fabric you can literally pull with both hands and stretch out, let go and it snaps back to where it was to begin with.  Stretch fabric dramatically reduces water absorption and drying time.  They are so light weight that you don't even feel them on.  These shorts move with you in all directions creating a comfortable fit and feel like no other.  The texture of the stretch fabrics eliminate the fabric vaccuming to the skin while wet, eliminating chaffing.

The lightweight fabric in stretch http://www.bathingsuits.net/mens-boardshorts/c1000004648/target="_new">boardshortsis so thin and light but does not compromise strength. It started as always with the surfers.  Most of the technology came from testing boardshorts right on the beach.  Volcom has set up a beach house just for this.   Many guys who are active in fast moving water sports such as wake boarding, tubing and water skiing need a comfortable boardshort but one that can with stand the tumbles and hard hits that come with the sport. With a stretch board short you can beat the crap out of them and they still maintain shape and durability.  They also do not fade and  last a super long time.

Stretch boardshorts are so comfortable many guys are opting to where their cool shorts not only on the beach but out and about.  The color and styles blend well with a t-shirt and sometimes you can't tell it's a board short at all. 

With all this technology there does come a price.  The opening price point for these board shorts start at about $59 and range to $99.  Some big brands that have pioneered the stretch board short is O'neill, Volcom, Quiksilver and Hurley.  Most people that have purchased this shorts have felt the benifits outway the higher price point.
