How to Brew Green Tea

Green tea is a beverage with subtle flavour and can be added to different ingredients to make different dishes and desserts. As plain green tea drink, it is very refreshing and revitalizing. Even those who do know how to brew green tea can make a decent cup. But there are ways to brew green tea and come up with an exceptional drink.

Some green tea packages come with instructions on how to brew it. This will give you best results. If there are no instructions, however, here are some tips that you can find useful to get the best green tea brew.

Ceramic pots brew tea best. It is best to preheat the pot by pouring hot water and then discarding it. Add the tea leaves according to size. Then fill it with freshly boiled distilled water that is slightly cooled to about 80®C.

You can also use your coffee maker to brew tea. This is very convenient especially if your coffee maker has a timer and you want freshly brewed green tea first thing in the morning. All you have to do is go to the kitchen and pour yourself a cup. This is truly a wonderful way to wake up.

Brewed iced green tea is not done with hot water but with cold water instead. Use twice the amount of tea leaves and let steep for 30-45 minutes in a sealed container and placed inside the refrigerator. This will keep the tea from oxidizing and reducing its antioxidants. This is a refreshing drink on a hot day.

These are modern ways of brewing green tea. Oriental people like the Chinese and Japanese have their own way of preparing tea. These methods are a bit complicated and need more utensils. They have tea ceremonies, which are important parts of their culture.
