Whats the right kind of motor oil for your European car?

 

Sophisticated European engines produce higher horsepower densities per cubic inch and subject the engines motor oil to severe operational conditions. Oils must demonstrate exceptional performance in the following areas to provide the best protection in European engines and meet the most current European motor oil specifications. Those specifications at this writing are VW 504/00/507.00, VW 505.01, MB229.51, BMW LL-04, Porsche C-30 etc.

Stay-in-grade Performance

Motor oils meeting this need must demonstrate excellent high temperature/high shear performance (HT/HS) to maintain viscosity and provide adequate engine protection throughout the extended drain intervals European carmakers recommend.

Low SAPS Formulation

Motor oils with excessive sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulfur (SAPS) can harm modern exhaust treatment devices. Diesel particulate filters (DPF's), for example, require low-SAPS motor oil to help prevent filter plugging.

Enhanced Turbocharger Protection

Turbocharged direct injection (TDI) engines commonly used in European vehicles require thermally stable oils that resist deposit formation and provide adequate turbocharger cooling. Thermally stable oils help keep oil passages clean and promote fluid circulation so turbocharger bearings stay cool and lubricated.

The most ideal oil for European engines

The most ideal motor oil for European engine is high grade synthetic oils engineered for the above specifications. Synthetic oils have very low pour points protecting the engine from oil starvation and providing immediate oil pressure when the outside temperature is low while its thermal stability withstands high-temperature/high-RPM breakdown to resist deposit formations that starve TDI systems of lubrication.

Jatropha Oil for Diesel Engine Application $127.45 This study examined suitable areas for growing Jatropha plants and focused on the improvement of Jatropha oil as an alternative fuel for diesel engine. To examine land suitability for Jatropha cultivation, this study examined case studies in Suphanburi province, Thailand by classifying land use from landsat5 TM. Then, GIS based spatial multiple criteria decisionmaking analysis was used to identify suitable land for Jatropha cultivation. Analytical Hierarchical Processing (AHP) was used to weight multifactor priority model for land suitability for Jatropha cultivation. The results were obtained that the marginally suitable area for Jatropha cultivation in Suphanburi is 3,569.02 sq.km and 1,577.70 sq.km. and 211.29 sq.km. for highly suitable and moderately suitabille area respectively. The results found that viscosity of 5 10 of Jatropha blends can be acceptable according to the ASTM standard. For using Jatropha oil (pure), the fuel should be heat more than 100 Celsius before directly used in engine. The study revealed that blending with 510 of Jatropha oil can be used directly in diesel engine without any modification or preheating.
