You know you have to workout but you continue avoiding it, right? It's easy to make excuses why you have no time for exercise or it is easier yet to put it to the back of your mind and just forget about it. But the fact that you need to exercise is always there no matter how hard you try to avoid it, you are constantly reminded.

Here is a sure fire way to get you started on the road to becoming skinny and overall fitness-no matter how busy your schedule.

It all starts with having the right mindset.

If you want to get skinny and become fit it all starts with having the proper mindset. You have to understand where you are and not are satisfied with your current look or condition. You have to know what you want to change in order for change to be possible. You also have to have a reason to motivate yourself to get started.

The first step in getting the proper mindset to start exercising is to look at your body in the mirror. Turn from side to side and really look at yourself. Who are we trying to kid here; you know what you look like. But everyday up to this point you avoid any sort of visual self evaluation like this. Ask yourself if you like what you see. Assess areas you would like to change. Don't be too hard on yourself; be sure to compliment areas of your body you do like.

Now consider how you would like to look. Would you like to get rid of those sags? Would you like to stiff and tone up sure areas? Could your posture stand for improvement? Would you like to have more stamina and energy to get you through the day? Would you like to get feeling better about yourself? All of this is entirely possible.

This sort of self assessment can be difficult and you need to be up to it. If you are not ready for this don't try until you are ready. But you have to know where you are in order to start. You also have to have good motive and something to motivate you to start.

As you keep this self assessment ask yourself if you have mood swings, bouts of depression, are you lacking in self confidence, are you at times nervous or overly stressed. Do you worry excessively? Fitness can help with all of these as well.

Write down what you want to change.

Now you must write down what you want to change. Be very specific. If you write down what you want to change it can be very motivating. It will help keep you accountable. By writing down what you want to change it is harder to forefend. It can also be helpful to measure parts of your body that you want to change.

Now that you have done this self appraisal you are ready to keep down the road to fitness. You have a starting point and some very strong reasons to move forward. Continue remembering your ambition and you will stay on the path toward becoming skinny and getting fit.
