If you have it, flaunt it! That is the spirit of confidence when you wear a bikini. Get a great tan this summer and show off that gorgeous body of yours, but don't forget the simple rules to observe when frolicking on the beach or by the swimming pool in a bikini, so that you don't end up writing in your diary about ‘my most embarrassing summer ever.'

If you have no plans of buying a new pair, make sure to check your old pair for color and elasticity. Constant exposure to sun and sea water or chorine water will take its toll on the form and appearance of your favorite bikini. Make sure to try it on first and check the fit if it still hugs your top and bottom perfectly without the need of pulling the strings too tightly. There have been several cases where the ladies had to suffer humiliation when their bikini strings pulled apart and exposed their breasts for the whole world to see. Good color is important in a bikini and your old pair should not look faded or shabby. That whistle bait figure will always look dull in a dull bikini. Bright and bold colors are perfect to draw away the attention from the problem areas. Brighter colors are also recommended for well tanned skin while lighter colors, but not faded, will look great for light skinned bodies. Just make sure that the colors and designs match or you might end up on the top list of summer's bikini fashion disasters.

If you and your friends have plans of playing beach volleyball, don't put on a string bikini or the bandeau type. If you make this mistake, you run the risk of letting those tender molds pop out or end up looking like that idol character chanting the tune, "pants on the ground!" Choose the bikini with wider straps or halter-top tied front and back and match it with boy shorts or bottoms with a wide hip band. Wear those billabongs for extreme water sports like surfing. These types of bikini are styled with the sporty woman in mind so they are designed to support your body for agility and water impact.

Don't even attempt to wear that bikini of yours if you are not comfortable in them, and you miss out on the beach activities because you can't let go of those wraparounds.
